BIG, BOLD JEWELRY
I’ve decided that June is BIG, BOLD jewelry month, so each post for the next 4 weeks will be BIG and BOLD. I’m kicking it off with a piece so large that it’s really more of what I would call a ‘collar’ than a necklace. This piece is made up of two sections of gold metal hooked together and attached to several strands of beads that connect it behind the neck. And it’s completed with black feathers.
Although I’m wearing this necklace at the beach, I feel it’s probably better suited for a more formal occasion. Something semi-formal. But as you can imagine, I don’t have a lot of opportunities to wear it, so naturally I couldn’t resist modeling it during my date night at the beach. (How romantic!). Although this was just the beginning of our date night in Malibu last weekend. We started out on Zuma Beach and ended up with dinner at the bar with stunning views at Duke’s. But still, photographing jewelry on date night earns my husband plenty of kudos.
The story behind this necklace is one that you’ll hear many times. This necklace (collar) is from Césarée Paris, on rue du Dragon in the 6th arrondissement. Their pieces are handmade right there onsite. I love it. I go whenever I’m in Paris and I tend to buy their largest, heaviest pieces, their “editorial pieces” that being heavily discounted because very few people buy them because they are so over-the-top size/weight/design. All the better for me!
Have a great weekend! Enjoy your jewelry!!
