Day 131: Hamburg Canal Gal

I’ve done a bit of sightseeing here at home in Hamburg over the last few days.  Why?  Because my friend Emily stopped here for a couple of days on a trip through Europe.  And in order to show her a bit of the “hidden” Hamburg, I took her on a peddle-boat trip in the canals that run through Hamburg.

My favorite part of going through the canals is that you get to see the beautiful homes, yards and exquisite gardens of buildings that are on the canal.  As one might imagine, waterfront (in this case canal-front) property is prime real estate, so it’s a lovely sight, these homes.  There’s also lots of greenery (see below), which is so calming.

Day 131_Hamburg peddle boat_1940s crystal bracelet

This bracelet is one of my favorite new pieces.  I got a few weeks ago on my trip to Munich, and I love that the tiny, delicate crystals and pearls together form a larger, more impactful piece.  I bought this from vintage jewelry dealer, collector and author Mary Sue Packer.  The bracelet is American, and although it’s from the 1940s, it looks a bit Gatsby-era to me!
